RELEASE THE KRACKEN!!!!

[I began this last night but then fell asleep on top of my laptop. With this in mind, when I say tonight, I actually mean last night and so on. Now back to your regularly scheduled program---->]

Friday nights since I hit college have been a mixture of almost epic and vaguely lame. Tonight was looking like it was going to be the lame kind. I got home from school, grabbed my laptop, and sat on the couch a few feet away from Heather. We stayed in exactly the same position for about 2 hours until Celina came home. She suggested we not do the same thing we always do, and go find something fun to do. Immediately Heather and I agreed, but this scene happens pretty much every night, and usually find ourselves still on the couch at midnight.

However, tonight Celina was insistent. Rather apathetically, I told her she should decide on something fun and I would probably be game. My interest rose exponentially when she found an address for a nickelcade/laser tag place. Over the course of the next hour or so, I'm pretty sure I sucked all the energy out of her. Actually, I just had a lot of sugar. I grew exponentially hyperactive to the point where i was basically buzzing, and she grew inexplicably despondent. Now instead of her pushing me to get off my butt and leave the apartment, it was the other way around. We waited a while for Fannie to come home from shopping before she texted me and said she probably wasn't coming. I finally decided that I had to do something active or I was going to implode. I got up and paced for a while, and then prodded Juliet until we were both headed out the door. After only a few lies from my GPS, we made it to Nickel City. The outside looked kinda sketch, but when we walked inside we were barraged by awesome.

We ran around and played everything from Super Mario Bros to Guitar Hero to some Dawn of the Dead kind of game that was waaaay too short. My favorite, however, was The Ocean Hunter. I wasn't too excited at first because it looked pretty simple, and only agreed to play because Celina wanted to play really badly. We ended up dominating it for like an hour. The point is basically to blast the crap out of all of these mythical sea creatures with an underwater machine gun. It really makes no sense, but it was SO. MUCH. FUN! We walked out of the nickelcade looking something like this:

We FELT like this:

After all, when you defeat the Kraken, Leviathan, Charybdis, Ahuizotl, Karkinos, Midgardsorm, and Raha...you get the right to look a little awesome.

As Ever,
Mandi
