Putting On My Hipster Glasses

I just went to look at tickets for an Imagine Dragons concert this month in Salt Lake. They were over $130 each.

I've never paid more than $20 to go see them, and that includes the time I bought a CD at the Night Visions release party.

Now, I'm not a hipster. Anyone who looks at my iTunes playlists can tell you that. But I'm going to sound like I'm trying to be one for the duration of this post. I've been listening to Dan's music since it was a little "Dan Reynolds Music" fan page on Facebook with a reach of 50 people. It's been really fun over the last year to watch Imagine Dragons blow up.

I remember the first time I heard them on the radio. It was late last April when I was headed home after winter semester. My car still has XM radio, and I usually switch back and forth between Hits 1 and 20 on 20. "It's Time" came on and I freaked. out. Really coherently, too--I was screaming "I KNOW THIS SONG!! IKNOWTHISSONGGGGG!!!!"  I called my mom (who has always followed them more closely than I have) and squealed for a while. By the time I made it home the next day, 20 on 20 had played it about 50,000 times, but it was still fun to hear it (even with the same intro every time--20 on 20 really needs to switch it up more than once a week)

I can't even speak of the emotions surrounding "It's Time" being on the Perks trailer. I mean, EMMA WATSON. And Imagine Dragons. In. The. Same. Thing. AND THEN to make it better, they took pictures together at the VMAs and I woke up to not one but  TWO tweets from Emma about the encounter.

The sad thing, if I can call it that, is nobody in Provo is impressed by from-the-beginning Imagine Dragons fans. Since they half started here, everybody who wasn't a fan by the time they hit the radio still jumped on the bandwagon a few months before the rest of America. So lame.

But outside Provo...
Hey. I knew Imagine Dragons before they were cool.

As Ever,
Mandi
